Root Canal Treatment

A common occurrence in the dental setting is your dentist informing you that you need a root canal treatment.  Many teeth are treated and saved each year with root canal treatment. Root canal treatment is an effective way of relieving your pain and saving your smile.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry seeks to improve the appearance of your smile as well as the replacement of missing teeth. Here at Greg Whalley Dental we offer a comprehensive range of cosmetic services including; crown and bridges, veneers, implants and teeth whitening.

Veneers

Veneers are designed to cover the front surface of teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers can be made from porcelain or composite tooth filling material.  If improving your smile is one of your treatment goals, book an appointment with Greg Whalley Dental today to find out if veneers are suitable for you.

Implants

Dental Implants are described as a titanium screw which is placed into the bone in the space of a missing tooth.  The screw bonds to surrounding bone acting like a normal tooth root. After a healing period, a crown can then be custom made and screwed onto the dental implant. Implants can also be fitted with a clip attachment to hold a denture and in doing so reduce movement of the denture in daily function. Implants are an attractive alternative to dentures and bridges to replace missing teeth.  At Greg Whalley Dental our senior dentist, Dr. Whalley has had over 17 years of experience in implant dentistry. He will be only too happy to answer all your questions and provide you with the best treatment plan for your implant.

Restorations

Restorations are used for a variety of reasons. Generally they are used to restore decayed teeth, or broken teeth. At Greg Whalley Dental we offer both white composite fillings and Cerec (porcelain) restorations.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns can be referred to as single unit covers that are placed over heavily broken down, filled, or root treated teeth.  A crown wraps around the tooth strengthening the underlying tooth structure.  This prevents fracture of the tooth and offers a better long term solution for heavily restored teeth.  Crowns also look and feel just like real teeth.

Children's Dental

Greg Whalley Dental are proud supporters of the Medicare Child Dental Benefits Scheme. This scheme entitles your child to access up to $1000 over 2 years and can be used on minor dental procedures. The CDBS includes dental exams, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root treatment and extractions. Benefits are not available for orthodontic or cosmetic services and cannot be paid for any services provided in a hospital. You can confirm your Childs eligibility and balance amount by calling Medicare on 132 011.

Bridges

Bridges are used to fill gaps permanently where teeth have been lost.  The remaining teeth are used to support a tooth like structure which is indiscernible from other teeth. Bridges are a fixed solution and the patient cannot remove them. Bridges are most often suitable in the situation where there are two restored teeth either side of gap where the tooth has been lost.  In certain circumstances implants may be a better alternative to bridges.

Mouth Guards

Australian research has shown that sports injuries account for about one-third of all traumatic injuries to teeth. Failure to wear a custom made mouthguard can double the risk of damage to teeth from sporting injuries.  Over-the-counter mouthguards available through pharmacies are generally ill-fitting and can restrict normal speech and breathing. The best protection is obtained by a custom-fitted mouthguard available through a dentist. At Greg Whalley Dental our mouthguards are accurately moulded to your teeth and made of shock absorbing materials that come in a range of colours.  We encourage the use of a mouthguard with all contact sports.
